3 Feet to the Left

I have a friend who always says, "Three feet to the left," if there is something unexplainable or something we can't seem to find. Why? Because, when you move three feet to the left, you see things from a different perspective. Why three feet? And why to the left and not right? Well, I don't know. The point is that sometimes we need a new perspective.
How often do we fall into the habit of looking at something the same why that we always do? What if I were to see "clouds of blue and skies of white"? What if I found a way to "smell the color nine"? How many truths do we hold so dear that may not even be true at all?
A theme comes across in "Paradise Lost" that one can make a "heaven of Hell, and a hell of Heaven." This is also true. Are you in hell or heaven right now? Why? Perhaps it is all in the way we look at things.
How much does culture effect how we see things? How much of our history effects our present and even future?
Perhaps it's time to take a few steps three feet to the left.
